TASTE News Service, July 14, 2020 – Wine Valley has been described as a “links course,” confusing golfers who only know it’s about 300 miles inland.

Those who’ve played the course know that even though it’s surrounded by rolling hills and there’s no ocean anywhere near, Wine Valley Golf Course does have some characteristics of its coastal cousins. Besides that, this public course is regarded as one of the finest in Washington.

Designed by Dan Hixson, who’s also noted for his design of Bandon Crossings, this 18-hole course plays to 7600-yards. Specifics can be found at www.winevalleygolfclub.com.

The course is just a few miles west of the city of Walla Walla, which is, of course, surrounded by vineyards and wineries. Somewhat unusual, is that the city itself is home to many tasting rooms, allowing visitors to stroll among them and get a feel for what this attractive small city is all about.

The city of Walla Walla’s population is less than 35,000, but it plays bigger than that. It’s home to three colleges, a vibrant live entertainment culture and excellent dining options.
