Played in the States since the latter part of the 19th Century, Rugby has gained much more visibility in the U.S. and Canada with the establishment of a professional league. Created in 2018, Major League Rugby now showcases 11 teams in America and one in Toronto, Canada.
Currently, there are just two franchises on the West Coast, the Seattle Seawolves and the San Diego Legion. The Seawolves actually play their games at the Starfire Sports complex in the city of Tukwila, Washington.
“We couldn’t be more excited to partner with the city that’s been the Seawolves home since the launch of Major League Rugby in 2018,” said Seawolves president, Shane Skinner. “We’ve made so many great memories in the City of Tukwila, including two championship seasons, and we look forward to partnering with Tukwila, as we work to bring a third MLR championship home to our fans.”
The City of Tukwila is home to Starfire Sports, a massive multi-field complex nestled along the Green River where the Seawolves train and play home matches to sell-out crowds. Tukwila’s strong commitment to fostering the growth of both professional and amateur sports makes it the ideal location for the Seawolves training facility and home pitch.

About the Seattle Seawolves
A founding member of Major League Rugby, the Seattle Seawolves are MLR’s reigning back-to-back champions. The Seawolves kicked off their official MLR season earlier this month in San Diego in a championship rematch against the San Diego Legion in a game nationally televised on CBS Sports. Select Major League Rugby games will be televised on the CBS Sports Network as part of an exclusive, multi-year television partnership between MLR and the television network with the “CBS Game of the Week.” Majority of the Seawolves matches will be shown regionally on ROOT Sports.
