TASTE News Service, September 3, 2019 – For oenophiles, few experiences surpass travel to wine country during harvest, and one of the nation’s ten best tasting rooms to visit this fall is Long Shadows Vintners in Walla Walla, according to USA Today readers.

The USA Today 10 Best Readers’ Choice Award for Winery Tasting Rooms announced Long Shadows Vintners ranked No. 4 on its annual Top 10 list, released today. A panel of industry experts nominated 20 wineries for the award, selecting from thousands of tasting rooms nationwide. Readers voted for the 10 Best. Long Shadows was the only Washington State winery named to the list.

Long Shadows is a collection of seven ultra-premium wines, each built on the unique expertise of the world’s most knowledgeable winemakers to showcase the viticultural quality and caliber of the Columbia Valley. Visitors to Long Shadows’ Chihuly Tasting Room in Walla Walla are hosted in a beautiful setting appointed with artwork from internationally acclaimed glass artist Dale Chihuly.

“This is an incredible honor for our entire team,” said Long Shadows’ president Dane Narbaitz in response to the Reader’s Choice award. “It acknowledges our winemakers, our hospitality team and Allen Shoup’s founding vision to bring global recognition to the wines of the Columbia Valley,” he said. “From the early days of his career at Ste. Michelle, Allen has encouraged collectors to look beyond California and the Old World for exceptional quality. It’s validating to have wine lovers from across the country not only recognize our tasting experience but also the excellence of Washington wines. We are sincerely appreciative.”

About Long Shadows Vintners

Washington wine visionary Allen Shoup founded Long Shadows in 2002. His idea for Long Shadows was as simple as it was complex. Recruit seven internationally acclaimed winemakers; give each access to Washington State’s best grapes; and outfit a winery to the vintners’ exacting cellar specifications. Seven stand-alone wineries are the result of his idea and comprise the Long Shadows’ portfolio: Chester-Kidder, Feather, Pedestal, Pirouette, Poet’s Leap, Saggi and Sequel.

Since the beginning, Long Shadows’ director of winemaking and viticulture Gilles Nicault has brought each winemaker’s vision to completion. The wines are made at a state-of-the-art winery in Walla Walla, home to Long Shadows’ Chihuly Tasting Room. The wines are also available for tasting at Long Shadows’ Woodinville location. More information is available at longshadows.com.
