TASTE News Service, January 18, 2022 — February in Walla Walla is anything but sleepy when the town buzzes with culinary splendor as Walla Walla Restaurant Month unfolds.

Entering its 11th year in 2022, the month-long celebration will bring prix fixe menu offerings, lodging packages, wine tasting specials, and more to epicure-minded diners.

Widely recognized as the unofficial capital of Washington wine country, Walla Walla was recently named Sunset Magazine’s ‘Emerging Wine Route’ in the 2021 Sunset Travel Awards and is a two-time consecutive winner of the USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice Award for America’s Best Wine Region (2020 & 2021). While wine shines in Walla Walla, the town’s agricultural roots and farm-to-table culinary scene share a leading role in the overall experience for oenophiles and gourmands both near and far.

With more than 30 participating businesses, Walla Walla Restaurant Month has a variety of offerings to explore. Building off last year’s momentum, Walla Walla Restaurant Month will present three different prix fixe options at participating restaurants, ranging from $19 to $39, along with special deals at participating breweries and wineries.

“Whether it’s breakfast, lunch, or dinner, we invite visitors and locals alike to take a front-row seat at the table, booth, or barstool and sink their teeth into all that makes Walla Walla delicious,” says Cara Jacobson, director of marketing for Visit Walla Walla. “As a deeply-rooted agricultural community it should come as no surprise that Walla Walla’s culinary scene is on par with cities many times its size, with homegrown talent, James Beard finalists, and other highly accomplished chefs who showcase their creativity and talent daily. Whether you’re interested in beer and a burger, gourmet tacos or handmade pasta, Walla Walla has something for everyone.”

A few confirmed highlights of Walla Walla Restaurant month include the 3 for $39 menu at some of Walla Walla’s fine dining eateries, including Brasserie Four, Hattaway’s on Alder, The Marc, Passatempo Taverna, Saffron Mediterranean Kitchen, TMACS, Walla Walla Steak Co., Eritage Resort and Valdemar Estates. In addition, Walla Walla Community College’s Wine Country Culinary Institute will bring back their “Friday night boxes,” which include ingredients to take and make a three-course meal along with virtual instructions.

Other great, satisfying meals showcase the range of dining options in Walla Walla, including:

  • Maple Counter Cafe will present breakfast lovers with a $19 breakfast special featuring their heirloom family pancake recipe.
  • Chef Andrae Bopp’s AK’s Mercado will offer month-long taco specials highlighting his south-of-the-border culinary flare.
  • Sweet Basil Pizzeria will share a touch of New York’s Little Italy to the PNW with their 18″ thin-crust pizza deal, and Stone Hut will bring back their styled-out burger specials to satisfy even the most ferocious of appetites.

Lodging specials will be available at participating hotels, and a complete list of restaurants and offerings is available at
