“We tasted this wine on consecutive days. We thought that it might have opened up on that second day, but it still seemed not to be all that it could be—or all that we hoped it would be.

“Initially we found attributes of black tea leaves and black cherry fruit. Subsequent sips revealed subtle cherry and raspberry-like qualities with some slight white pepper dustiness. There were some cola notes, too.

“There’s nothing to really complain about this wine. There were no flaws, yet this Panther Creek Pinot Noir didn’t really sing for us. At the time we tasted (mid-October of 2016--relatively early in the life of a 2014 vintage Pinot Noir), the wine seemed to exhibit more power than elegance. It could be a different story with another year or two in the bottle.”

Food Affinity: “Ribs, slowly cooked in the Weber Kettle (or similar) and basted with a tomato-based sauce.”
