This celebration of the groundbreaking history of Leonetti Cellar, the first commercial winery in Walla Walla, and the prestigious reputation of their wines will include the Hall of Fame induction and an exciting silent and live auction.
The evening will include the opportunity to bid on a complete vertical of Leonetti Cabernet Sauvignon spanning 1992 - 2001. In a first-ever partnership, proceeds from this item will be shared between the Clore Center and the Institute for Enology and Viticulture at Walla Walla Community College. The institute will use these funds to support scholarships for students in the program.
The vintages of these 10 bottles of Leonetti Cellar wine represent a formative time period in the history of Walla Walla wine; from five wineries in 1992 to the launch of the Institute for Enology and Viticulture in 2001. "The Institute has been transformative for, not only Walla Walla, but the entire Washington wine industry by providing hands on, applied training to produce skilled workers, viticulturists, and winemakers" says Tim Donahue, Director of Winemaking: Institute for Enology and Viticulture.
"The Clore Center is thrilled to partner with the Institute for Enology and Viticulture on this priceless auction lot" says Abbey Cameron, Executive Director of the Clore Center. "To know that proceeds from this item will support both the Clore Center's mission to champion the culture, history, and industry of Washington wine and to fund scholarships to develop the next generation of this industry is a very special thing. The winning bidder will not only add a priceless collection to their cellar but will also be doing a lot of good."
The 13th Annual Legends of Washington Wine Gala takes place Friday, August 9th at 6pm at the Clore Center. The evening includes bites from multiple heavy appetizer stations as well as wine from Leonetti Cellar, L'Ecole No. 41, Woodward Canyon, College Cellars, and Ste. Michelle Wine Estates.
