Deschutes Baltic Porter Bottle etc Picmonkey

Baltic Porter

Deschutes Brewery

Bend, Oregon

Style: Porter

Alcohol: 8%

IBUs: 25

Serving Style: kegs and 12-oz. bottles

Availability: Wide national distribution for a limited time

Appearance:   “Not black, but sure is a dark brown (sable?). There’s a good head that could be described as beige or tan.”

Aroma:   “Smells like toffee and roasting coffee.”

Taste:   “The toffee part predominates, but there seems to be coffee and mocha there, too.  Maybe even a touch of sweet smokiness in the finish. It’s substantial but in a refined package. Rich and smooth.”

Food Affinity:   “Not something I’d ordinarily think to serve with food, but I’ll give this a try. It might work with smoked meats or turkey served with some sort of sauce with tomato and chipotle or with a traditional mole. Maybe after-dinner with crackers and thin slices of smoked gouda?”
