African Amber Ale Picmonkey

African Amber

Mac & Jack’s Brewing Co.

Redmond, WA Style: Amber ale Alcohol: 5.8% IBUs: Serving Style: kegs Availability: Year-round in Northwest

Appearance:   “It seems a sort-of cloudy, milk chocolate color. Creamy white head—maybe you could call it ‘ivory’.”

Aroma:   “It’s somewhat floral. There’s some hoppiness there, but not like in an IPA. To me, it smells more malty.”

Taste:   “Plenty of flavor, but in a way that seems smooth and balanced. It’s rich, but not cloying. I wouldn’t call it a ‘session beer,’ but I think I could enjoy two or three pints without getting tired of the taste.”

Food Affinity:   “You’d want something with a fairly substantial flavor to stand up to this ale. I think grilled Swiss cheese on dark bread would be good or maybe a Reuben sandwich with some dark, spicy mustard.
