Deschutes RedChair Picmonkey

Red Chair

Deschutes Brewery

Bend, Oregon

Style: IPA

Alcohol: 6.2%

IBUs: 60

Serving Style: 12-ounce bottles

Availability: Seasonal—January through April

Appearance:   “It’s a copper or perhaps bronze color. It seems to have good carbonation, as I can see a lot of bubbles attached to the glass below the head. The head itself isn’t exactly white, but off white—sort of an ivory shade.”

Aroma:   “Both sides of its personality are evident. You can pick up the malt and the hops. Those hops seeem both ‘piney’ and ‘citrussy.’ “

Taste:   “It has that recognizable IPA quality, but it’s not overpowering. There’s a caramel-like aspect in the mid-palate and a nice fullness in the mouth. It finishes cleanly.”

Food Affinity:   “Would be very interesting with a grilled salmon steak finished with a maple syrup glaze.”
